An important part of The Curiosity Workshop is making a difference in the world -- the belief that if we all pitched in and did just a little bit, the world would be a better place. And what better way to do that than reading? So we created Read for Good, the space at The Curiosity Workshop where we do just that.
Here’s how it works: read a post and correctly answer the multiple choice question at the end. For each post that you read and each correct answer you provide, you’ll earn a stamp. Collect enough stamps and you can donate something that will help someone somewhere in the world. Like books for kids in need. Or rangers who help protect elephants in Kenya. Or helping to reduce plastic use and preserving important sea turtle nesting habitats. To get started, all you need is an email address and your parent’s permission. Click start here to sign up/sign in.

Once you’re signed in, read. Each time you read a post and answer the question correctly, a stamp will appear in your stamp book below. Collect enough and you can do something good. Scroll down to see some of the favorite charities we partner with and the specific items you can offer them, simply by reading.

Charity Ball
Soccer ball. Pass it on.
There are kids in the world who don’t have something as simple as a soccer ball. Their games are played with bits of trash and cloth tied up with string. Charity Ball, a non profit started in 2010 by a ten-year-old boy, is doing something about that by providing soccer balls to kids in poverty-stricken communities around the world. Think of it this way: your reading allows them to play. Win-win.
Now that you’ve read, here’s the good: your Read for Good contribution will provide a child in need with a new soccer ball –– and no doubt, endless hours of pure fun.

Surfrider Foundation
Baby turtles need an edge.
Life is hard for a baby sea turtle—in the best of circumstances only one in a thousand is likely to survive to adulthood. Add the challenges of pollution and that number plummets. The biggest offender? Plastic litter, which breaks down into tiny particles, turning our oceans into a plastic soup that marine life feeds on.
Now that you’ve read, here’s the good: your help will support the Surfrider Foundation’s Rise Above Plastics campaign and clean up more than 500 pounds of pollution from our coasts and ocean waters, reducing the toxic plastic pollution that sea turtles encounter in their breeding and nesting grounds.

Charity: Water
Everyone deserves clean water.
In Africa alone, people spend 40 billion hours every year walking for water. Women and children usually bear the burden of water collection, walking miles to the nearest source, which is unprotected and likely contaminated. When a community gets access to clean water, it can change just about everything. It can improve health, increase access to food, grow local economies, and help kids spend more time in school.
Now that you’ve read, here’s the good: your contribution will help to bring clean water to a village. Now that’s something to celebrate.
